Oxaquim Strengthens its Presence in the United States
Oxaquim expects to close 2026 by strengthening its presence and influence in the United States, where it continues to expand its activity as a leading supplier of oxalic acid to companies operating in the rare earth production sector.
As explained by Marc Miquel and Daniel Miquel, CEOs of the firm, “the planned investment schedule is progressing very well. This schedule envisions allocating a total of €20 million by 2028 and creating up to 40 new jobs to guarantee increased production at the Alcañiz, Teruel, plant.”
Thus, production will increase in early 2027 once the first phase of the investment plan is completed. Subsequently, the second phase of the plant expansion will begin, which will lead to a further increase in production in 2028.
According to these plans, by the end of 2028 the company will be in a position to double its production compared to 2025, when it presented the current expansion project.
New Investments
These forecasts, given the current pace of North American demand, are being revised upwards, and, as the company’s top executives confirm, “we are already working on new growth scenarios that include both building a factory in the United States and continuing to expand the facilities in Alcañiz.”
Oxaquim operates in the American, Malaysian, European, and Japanese markets with clients who are directly involved in supplying key components to companies driving electrification and technology, specifically in the areas of wind turbines, electric vehicles, and all types of technological devices, such as smartphones, drones, the aerospace industry, robotics, etc.
“These rare earth-producing clients rely on Oxaquim to avoid Chinese supply chains and thus guarantee the security of their customers and their respective governments. Our production capacity and quality have consolidated our position as the strategic supplier of oxalic acid outside of China,” the Miquels confirm.
Global Leaders
Founded in 1991 by its current president, Jaume Miquel, Oxaquim is the largest European producer of oxalic acid and the second largest worldwide. Oxalic acid is an essential chemical component in the purification of rare earth elements.
It exports 90 percent of its production to 85 countries around the world, supplies more than 16 manufacturing sectors, expects to generate €40 million in revenue, and employs more than 75 people.
It has invested over €95 million in R&D and technology, making Oxaquim the cleanest and most efficient oxalic acid manufacturer in the world.
