Oxaquim is already working on expanding its Alcañiz factory
Oxaquim is already working on expanding its factory in Alcañiz, Spain, to meet the increasing demand for oxalic acid, a chemical product of which the Spanish firm is the leading European producer and the second largest worldwide.
The company will invest 20 million euros and create 40 new jobs, explain CEOs Marc and Daniel Miquel.
The work being carried out in this first phase involves increasing the plant’s surface area by another 5,000 square meters. Construction is expected to be completed next March, while the 50 percent increase in production will be effective by December 2026.
The second phase of the investment will be completed by the end of 2028, allowing for a further 50 percent increase in production.
This expansion comes in response to a recently signed agreement with a leading company in its sector in the United States to supply it with oxalic acid, an essential component for its production process, which is currently undergoing expansion. This means that Oxaquim will become a preferred and crucial supplier for North America.
“Once this investment in Teruel, Spain, is completed, the possibility of building a factory in the United States will be studied. Our strategic client is directly involved in supplying key components to companies driving electrification and technology, specifically in the areas of wind turbines, electric vehicles, and all types of technological devices, such as smartphones, drones, the aerospace industry, robotics, etc.,” the Miquel brothers point out.
Oxaquim exports 90 percent of its production to 85 countries worldwide, supplies more than 16 productive sectors, has a turnover of 25 million euros, and employs 50 people.
It has accumulated investments in R&D and technology exceeding 85 million euros, making Oxaquim the cleanest and most efficient oxalic acid manufacturer in the world.
